Drama
Acting is one the key pillars of Performing Arts, if your child loves imaginative play or immersing themselves into creative worlds and adventures then our Drama classes sound like the perfect fit!
Our Drama classes focus on building confidence, imagination and creativity while looking at script work, improvisation, physical theatre and social skills. Drama teaches skills for life and provides a key part of a child’s development to build their confidence and self-esteem. Students have the opportunity to take LAMDA exams as part of their classes.
Musical Theatre
A combination of Acting, Singing and Dancing, our Musical Theatre classes provide children skills in all 3 key pillars of Performing Arts. In this class we want to help build each child’s confidence and self-esteem and educate them on the genre of Musicals.
Children will take part in workshops in all 3 disciplines to become a triple threat performer! Students have the opportunity to take IDTA exams.
Street Dance
Street Dance is a modern style of dance made popular in music videos and films. It is sassy, energetic and fun! Perfect for a young dancer who wants to channel their attitude into movement. Under the umbrella of Street Dance is popping, locking, hip-hop and house, all covered within our classes. We like to mix it up to keep this class fun and exciting! Student also have the opportunity to take IDTA exams.
Contemporary
Contemporary Dance is a style that has been developed from the foundations of Ballet but with a more artistic approach in mind. Contemporary is a style that allows a dancer to feel the emotion and story behind the piece of music they are dancing to. A perfect class for a dancer who loves to feel the connection to their movements and music. We also follow the IDTA syllabus.
Ballet
Ballet is a classical dance style that has been around for hundreds of years. It forms the foundations of most other dance styles and gives dancers a strong technical basis for their journey as a performer. It helps a dancer develop poise, balance, discipline, strength and coordination. We follow the IDTA syllabus.
Tap
Tap is a fun and exciting dance style! It involves the use of tap shoes that have a metal plate on the bottom to create precise and rhythmical movements. Here at Shooting Star, we combine our Ballet and Tap classes as we believe they go hand in hand providing our dancers with the classical technique and foundations they require. We follow the IDTA syllabus in Tap.
Jazz
Modern Jazz is a derivative of Ballet but with a more artistic flair! Here at Shooting Star, our Jazz classes follow the IDTA syllabus and our students receive training in all types of jazz including lyrical jazz, Broadway jazz, commercial jazz and technical jazz. If your child loves fun and energetic dance then Jazz is the perfect class! We also follow the IDTA syllabus.
Acro
Here at Shooting Star we follow the Acrobatic Arts syllabus for Acro. Acro is a combination of Gymnastics and Dance, a perfect class for children to support their other dance or Performing Arts classes. Children in this class will learn strength, agility, balance, coordination and limbering. Our Tumble and Tricks class is a full 30minute class on our Air Track and Acro equipment where children can try out their new tricks with the safety of being supported by our teachers.
Broadway Babies
Broadway Babies is our preschool class perfect for children aged 2-4yrs! This is the perfect first Performing Arts class for your child as they are introduced to music and movement for the first time. In this class we use props, fun songs and routines to keep your child engaged and smiling for the full 45minute class. They will learn the basics of Drama, Dance and Singing technique whilst building up their own self confidence and self-esteem so they can move into our Tweenie classes.
Singing
Private singing lessons are available in our state of the art Singing studio. Lessons are available in 30minute or 1hour blocks either individually or as part of a small group. Singing students have lots of incredible opportunities throughout the year to take exams if they wish or to perform at events and competitions.
