Welcome to Shooting Star Theatre School! I am Lauren, the Principal and owner.

I have over 7years teaching and experience in education. My training began at young age when I attended Dance and Drama classes until the age of 16, gaining exam qualifications and entering competitions. At 16, I went onto complete my A-Levels in Drama and Theatre Studies and Performing Arts which is where my passion for the Arts really flourished!

At 18, I began working with young people as a SEN Teaching Assistant, gaining qualifications and understanding of children with SEN needs and shortly after I started working at Shooting Star Theatre School and was very excited to take over as Principal in 2020.

I then continued studying while teaching at Shooting Star and before becoming Principal and gained a BA Hons Drama and English Literature and a PGCE with QTS.

In addition, I am an Associate of the IDTA and have taught the syllabus for the past 6years with a 100% pass rate across our School. I have also taught the LAMDA syllabus to my Drama students with a 100% pass rate across Schools in Greater Manchester. I have vast experience teaching and performing within Drama, Dance and Singing. Currently I teach Drama, Musical Theatre and Street Dance but you may see me pop in to cover other classes across the school.

I am passionate in providing a Triple threat training for children within Wythenshawe to ensure Performing Arts training is accessible to anyone. I want to share my love for the Performing Arts and show young people how rewarding and exhilarating it is!

The school has continued to flourish massively in the past few years from us being the only Theatre School in Wythenshawe with our own premises to introducing more classes and styles for our students. I am so proud of what our students achieve and how our team truly uphold our 5 key STARS values throughout our school. I would love to welcome you and your child into our studio as part of our Shooting Star Theatre School family.

Abbie

Vice Principal

Abbie

Abbie joined Shooting Star in 2021 and became Vice Principal in 2022.

She has danced and performed from 2years old training in all styles including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre and Freestyle. Abbie trained at her local dance school and then received training in Ballet from IDTA examiner Gwyneth Hare. Abbie has completed all of her IDTA exams in Ballet up to Advanced 2.

From here she went onto complete her A Levels in Dance and Performing Arts then received a scholarship to train at the prestigious Urdang academy in London and completed a degree in Musical Theatre.

Since the pandemic, Abbie has channelled her talents into teaching and has made an incredible addition to our team. She is also training to be a nurse too!

Abbie teaches Ballet, Tap, Acro, Broadway Babies and Musical Theatre at Shooting Star Theatre School and organises all of our competitions throughout the year.

Teachers

Vicky – Dance Teacher

Vicky is our Street Dance and Contemporary Dance teacher here at Shooting Star. She has a wealth of experience and has been teaching for over 10yrs across the North West but has been with us at Shooting Star since 2016.

Vicky has a Master’s degree in Dance and takes regular trips to LA to Dance with some of the world’s top choreographers. Vicky believes that it is important to get the absolute best out of the students in her class.

Hollie – Singing teacher

Hollie is the newest member of our teaching team, joining us as our singing teacher for both group and private lessons. Hollie graduated from CAPA college after studying Musical Theatre and has a great love of singing having gained her Grade 8 as a teenager. After graduating Hollie has decided to branch into digital marketing but keeps her love of singing alive in the studio!

Bronte – Dance Teacher

Bronte is the newest addition to our teaching team and is an experienced choreographer and Dance teacher. She has danced from a young age and has completed numerous exams in Ballet, Tap and Modern. Bronte then completed a degree in Dance at the University of Gloucester and choreographed for their Dance society and competed in competitions across the UK. Bronte will be teaching some of our Dance classes at Shooting Star Theatre School.

Front Of House

Mikey – Front of house

Mikey is one of our front of house assistants here at Shooting Star Theatre School. You will see his lovely smiling face as you walk into our waiting area. Mikey is on hand to welcome any new students, answer any questions and runs our tuck and uniform shops.

Mia – Front of house

Mia is one of our front of house assistants here at Shooting Star Theatre School. Mia attended our classes as a child and is now going on to study Acting at The Arden School of Theatre from September. Mia is on hand to support any new students, answer any questions and run our tuck and uniform shops.

Teaching Assistant

Madi – Teaching assistant

Madi has attended Shooting Star Theatre School since she was 8years old. She now helps in our Broadway Babies class on a Saturday morning. Madi is also studying for her IDTA teaching exams as she wants to be a teacher when she is older! She also attends a local Cheerleading club and has competed all over the UK with them winning lots of trophies!

Frankie – Teaching assistant

Frankie has attended our classes here at Shooting Star Theatre School since she was 8years old and now helps in our Saturday Tweenie Drama and Musical Theatre classes and she still attends our Senior Drama class herself. Frankie aspires to be an Actress when she is older and if you have seen her perform you will know just how talented she is!

Roxy – Teaching assistant

Roxy currently attends our Senior Drama and Level Up Street Dance competition team classes and has been with us since she was 8years old. Roxy currently helps out with our Tweenie Street Dance and Manchester Beez classes. Roxy is a fantastic role model for our younger students as she is still competing and winning competitions across the UK herself.

Scarlett – Teaching assistant

Scarlett has attended Shooting Star for the past 2years and attends a multitude for classes from Acro, Ballet, Tap, Contemporary and Musical Theatre. Scarlett currently helps out with our Tweenie Acro and Tweenie Ballet and Tap classes.

Grace – Teaching assistant

Grace has attended Shooting Star for the past few years and currently attends Acro, Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Street Dance and Manchester Beez. Grace currently helps out in our Tweenie Acro and Tweenie Ballet and Tap classes.

Rosie – Teaching assistant

Rosie has attended Shooting Star for the past few years and currently attends Acro and Musical Theatre. Rosie currently helps out in our Tweenie Acro classes.
